Sakhi group has made a significant impact in the community since its establishment in 2017. This group was initiated by Jyoti Parashar, Aditee Naik, and a few like-minded ladies with a vision to empower and provide support to the women in the community in Auckland. Over the years, the group has grown in strength and numbers, becoming a reliable source of empowerment for women.

Supported by Bharatiya Mandir, the Sakhi group aims to provide a platform for women of all ages to connect, share their experiences, help each other in settling into their new surroundings and provide the support to those in need. The group organises events and programs throughout the year to promote the well-being and development of ladies in the community.

Waitakere Indian Association (WIA) was the first Indian community organisation to celebrate Diwali within public in 2000. From a small number of hundreds, it has grown to over ten thousand people from every walk of life, religion and ethnicity attending this much-loved event, which is in its 22nd year celebration with the community.

Major upgrades to rail lines across Auckland will pave the way for more frequent commuter trains when the City Rail link opens and will help future-proof the rail network for decades to come.

The $330 million Rail Network Rebuild will see sections of rail lines across the city temporarily closed over the coming years, so that the rock foundations under the tracks can be removed and rebuilt.

The work will move progressively across the Auckland passenger rail network - starting in early 2023 with the section of the Southern Line between Ōtāhuhu and Newmarket and the Onehunga Line.

The Anviro Group, led by environment enthusiast Sudesh Mittal had a get together of environment lovers and many keen kitchen gardeners at Bharatiya Mandir at Balmoral in Sandringham on Tuesday, 6th July. Around 45 people took part in the 3-hour long event.

Roshan Nauhria was the man who first saw the dream of having a Hindu temple for the Hindu community in New Zealand in 1986. He, along with his 4-5 likeminded friends, spared no stone unturned to make that dream a reality, which paved the way for opening of the first Hindu Mandir in New Zealand, Bharatiya Mandir (Indian Temple Inc.), in year 1993. Mr Nauhria was also instrumental in helping build the Gurudwaras in Hamilton. Otahuhu and the Kolmar Road in Papatoetoe and he has been a member of ISCON temple in Kumeu. Mr Nauhria regularly does charities in New Zealand and in India and helps several organisations and charity shows financially every year.

Health for Humanity Yogathon had a great start on Saturday, 12 June in many cities including Auckland, Rotorua, Palmerston North and Wellington. This year the team had aimed to reach 250,000 Surya Namaskars (Sun Salutations). It will continue till 26 June 2021.
