Sakhi group has made a significant impact in the community since its establishment in 2017. This group was initiated by Jyoti Parashar, Aditee Naik, and a few like-minded ladies with a vision to empower and provide support to the women in the community in Auckland. Major Auckland rail rebuild to start in 2023
Major upgrades to rail lines across Auckland will pave the way for more frequent commuter trains when the City Rail link opens and will help future-proof the rail network for decades to come.
The $330 million Rail Network Rebuild will see sections of rail lines across the city temporarily closed over the coming years, so that the rock foundations under the tracks can be removed and rebuilt.
The work will move progressively across the Auckland passenger rail network - starting in early 2023 with the section of the Southern Line between Ōtāhuhu and Newmarket and the Onehunga Line.

A visionary, who leads by his own example
Roshan Nauhria was the man who first saw the dream of having a Hindu temple for the Hindu community in New Zealand in 1986. He, along with his 4-5 likeminded friends, spared no stone unturned to make that dream a reality, which paved the way for opening of the first Hindu Mandir in New Zealand, Bharatiya Mandir (Indian Temple Inc.), in year 1993. Mr Nauhria was also instrumental in helping build the Gurudwaras in Hamilton. Otahuhu and the Kolmar Road in Papatoetoe and he has been a member of ISCON temple in Kumeu. Mr Nauhria regularly does charities in New Zealand and in India and helps several organisations and charity shows financially every year.

On Friday July 31, the Sky Tower will be lit green and white in honour of Eid al Adha – a religious holiday celebrated by Muslims around the world to mark the Pilgrimage to Hajj. Chairperson of New Zealand Eid Day Trust, Javed Dadabhai says he’s excited about the opportunity for the Muslim community. “We are thrilled that the SkyCity will be celebrating Eid with us again by lighting the tower to mark an important day in the calendar of New Zealand Muslims.”
