The second wave of Covid-19 in India has left the health care system crumbling with the oxygen supply in the country. In this hour of difficulty many countries have pitched in to help India and have already sent medical aid.

Here is the list of the ones that have extended a helping hand.

1) Canada – Canada’s Minister of Public Services and Procurement Anita Anand said, “We will stand ready with PPE and ventilators and any items that might be useful for the Government of India.”

2) United States – 318 Oxygen Concentrators sent by the United States arrive at Delhi Airport on 26 April, 2021. “Just as India sent assistance to the United States as our hospitals were strained early in the pandemic, we are determined to help India in its time of need”, US President Joe Biden Tweeted.

3) Bhutan- Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the state government has made arrangements to import oxygen from neighbouring country Bhutan. A new oxygen plant is being set up in Bhutan. Sarma has requested the drug maker Sun Pharma to increase its Remedisvir production to 80,000 vials per week.

4) United Kingdom – 140 ventilators and 495 oxygen generators have been sent to Delhi by the UK government. Boris Johnson, the UK prime minister, said Britain stood “side by side with India as a friend and partner […] I’m determined to make sure that the UK does everything it can to support the international community in the global fight against pandemic.”

5) Singapore – 500 BiPAPs, 250 oxygen concentrators & other medical supplies from Singapore landed in Mumbai on 25 April, 2021. “We stand with India in its fight against Covid-19. Through a bilateral and multi-agency effort, an @IAF_MCC transport plane picked up 4 cryogenic oxygen containers at @ChangiAirport in Singapore this morning”, a spokesperson of Singapore government tweeted on Saturday.

6) China – “The Chinese government and people firmly support the Indian government and people in fighting the coronavirus. China is ready to provide support and help according to India’s needs, and is in communication with the Indian side on this,” foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said on Friday. SpiceJet airlifts 800 oxygen concentrators from Hong Kong to India on 25 April, 2021.

7) Saudi Arabia – 80 metric tons of liquid oxygen sent to India by Saudi government to deal with the oxygen crisis in the country.

8) Pakistan – The Pakistan government spokesperson tweeted: “As a gesture of solidarity with the people of #India in the wake of the current wave of #COVID-19, #Pakistan has offered to provide relief support to India including ventilators, Bi PAP, digital X ray machines, PPEs and related items.”

9) Australia – As India is struggling with a second wave of the pandemic, Australia came forward to help the country and will send personal protective equipment, ventilators and oxygen to India.

10) Germany – The defence ministry said it will airlift 23 mobile oxygen generating plants from Germany to India to meet the demands of the hospitals, PTI reported. Officials said that each plant will have a capacity to produce 40 litres of oxygen per minute and 2,400 litres every hour.

11) France – France president Emmanuel Macron wrote on his official account today, “France will send medical equipment, ventilators and oxygen and 8 oxygen generators to India. Each generator can make a hospital self-sufficient for 10 years by producing oxygen from the ambient air.”

However, there are also many countries that have signalled to help India in these times of crises, one being the New Zealand government. – TIN (Data and information from Indiatimes)
