Udaan Trust organized an individual career clinic, focussing on providing each participant with feedback and inputs on their CV and cover letter, and doing mock interview practices. This workshop also included session on maintaining positive well-being and reducing anxiety before the interview.
Supported by Bhartiya Mandir, the workshop was organized at Balmoral centre on 20 June 2026. The career specialists observed the CVs and gave feedback to each participant on making it more NZ context specific. CVs play an important role, as they make the first impression on the employer. Trainers thus went into in-depth of each CV, providing tips and examples on matching CV with the job requirement/ask. CV templates were discussed, and so as how to use Artificial Intelligence tools effectively in improving the quality of one’s CV.
Mock interview practice was done individually with each participant, providing them with feedback on honing their communication, preparation and negotiation skills. The STAR method used in interviews was discussed in detail, giving take aways for reflection and learning for the participants.
Our registered counsellor, Gayatri Khatri conducted the mindfulness session taking the participants through the journey of recognizing that feeling nervous and anxiety before interview is normal. The key is to keep anxiety and stress levels low to the extent that it helps one functions properly. Key mindfulness activities were discussed and practised in the session such as deep breathing, humming and grounding exercises. The advice was given on practising it consistently to make it effective. Other strategies of focussing on nutrition, sleep, exercising before the interview to avoid brain going into flight-fright mode during the interview were discussed.
One of the participants commented that she got more information, clarity and confidence on what to do next in her career navigation. Another participant shared that he found the workshop practically meaningful and helpful, cv reviewing, career coaching and interview preparation.
