Bharatiya Mandir has been a vibrant community hub since 1993, offering a wide range of activities, programs, and events that support the wellbeing of individuals and families.Every Sunday, the Bal Vikas classes transform the space into a lively and joyful environment where children learn, grow, connect, and celebrate together. With the dedicated support of passionate volunteers, we offer religious and language classes, including Hindi and Gujarati, along with creative Art & Craft sessions for children of different age groups.

The main aim is to help children stay connected with Indian culture, traditions, and values while creating a nurturing and welcoming environment for learning.

In the religious classes, children learn simple mantras such as Om, along with prayers and inspiring stories of Hindu gods and goddesses. Through storytelling and interactive discussions, they explore important values like kindness, honesty, respect, courage, and compassion. These lessons help children develop a strong sense of identity and pride in their cultural roots.
Language classes such as Hindi and Gujarati play an important role in strengthening communication skills while keeping the mother tongue alive. Art and craft sessions bring creativity and joy, giving children the opportunity to express themselves through hands-on activities, often linked to festivals and cultural celebrations.

Bal Vikas is not only about learning — it is also about building friendships and creating lasting memories. Festivals are celebrated with great enthusiasm, and children feel special when their birthdays are celebrated within the class. These moments help foster a strong sense of belonging and community.
And of course, one of the most exciting parts of the day is snack time after class — especially when pizza is served, which continues to be an all-time favourite among the children!

In addition to regular classes, educational and awareness sessions are also organised for both children and parents. On Sunday, 3rd May, alongside the children’s classes, an Anti-Bullying Workshop was conducted for parents by Asian Family Services. The workshop included engaging activities and meaningful discussions to help parents better understand bullying, recognise warning signs, and learn effective ways to communicate with their children about difficult situations. Parents also explored practical strategies to support their children emotionally and help them respond confidently and safely if they experience bullying.

Bal Vikas continues to grow as a platform where children and families come together to learn, support one another, and strengthen cultural and community bonds.
We are deeply grateful to all the volunteers, parents, and children who make this initiative so meaningful and successful.
