Devotees from different countries came together in temples and homes alike, offering prayers, singing devotional songs, and reflecting on the virtues of strength, devotion, and humility that Lord Hanuman represents. The occasion, widely known as Hanuman Jayanti, holds deep spiritual significance and is marked with enthusiasm and reverence every year.

In New Zealand, one such vibrant and memorable celebration took place at Bharatiya Mandir, the oldest Hindu temple in the country. The temple became a hub of devotion and cultural unity as worshippers gathered in large numbers to honour the birth of Lord Hanuman. Despite it being a weekday and a working day for many, the turnout was remarkable, reflecting the deep-rooted faith and commitment of the community.

The ceremony began with the chanting of sacred hymns, creating an atmosphere filled with spiritual energy and peace. Devotees participated wholeheartedly, reciting verses and prayers dedicated to Lord Hanuman, whose life and deeds symbolize unwavering devotion to Lord Rama and the triumph of good over evil. The rhythmic chanting echoed throughout the temple, drawing participants into a shared sense of devotion and reverence.
Following the prayers, the congregation engaged in singing bhajans to the glory of Lord Hanuman. These devotional songs not only expressed love and admiration but also brought the community closer together. The music, accompanied by traditional instruments, uplifted the spirits of everyone present and created an environment of joy and celebration.
As the day progressed, the celebrations took on a more festive tone. At midday, devotees marked the symbolic birth moment of Lord Hanuman with singing and dancing. The temple came alive with vibrant energy as people of all ages joined in, expressing their devotion through movement and music. The festivities continued for five hours, with a steady flow of visitors arriving throughout the day. Volunteers and organizers worked tirelessly to ensure that the event ran smoothly, demonstrating a strong sense of community spirit and dedication. Their efforts were evident in the seamless coordination of prayers, performances, and hospitality.

A 51 kg Ladoo was offered to Lord Hanuman on this occasion that was followed by a sumptuous feast served to all devotees visiting the Mandir. The meal, prepared with devotion and care, offered a variety of traditional dishes. Sharing food is an integral part of such religious gatherings, symbolizing unity, generosity, and gratitude. The communal dining experience further strengthened the bonds among attendees.

Over 400 people took part in the day-long celebration, an impressive number given the weekday timing. The strong attendance underscored the importance of faith and cultural traditions in the lives of the Hindu community in New Zealand. It also highlighted the role of Bharatiya Mandir as a central place for spiritual and cultural connection.
