On Wednesday 15th May 2024, The Open Forum for Indian Origin Professionals hosted an interactive Q&A session at the Mahatma Gandhi Centre, where individuals from diverse backgrounds gathered for an insightful evening to understand the Pathways to Success in the Education and Healthcare Sector. The event was organised by the organising team Jyoti Parashar, Vishal Patil, Ramya Negi, Rani Nalam and Leena Kalburgi.

The evening began with an informal introductory session of all the attendees and what their key takeaway would be from the session. Jyothi Parashar then formally introduced the guest speakers Anitha Mogilicharla, Regional Clinical Manager at Oceania Healthcare and Ramya Negi, Owner/Director and Qualified Registered Leader at Little Kiwis Playhouse Early Learning Centre. The speakers opened the forum with an insight into their own pathways to success in their respective fields followed by an engaging Q&A session offering practical guidance around career progression and career transition in the Education and Healthcare sectors.
The key takeaways that emerged from this session were:
• With the right guidance, a career transition from one sector to another is very much achievable in New Zealand
• There are multiple pathways to enter the Healthcare and Education Sectors and what are the qualification and work experience requirements for each of those pathways.
• The industry pay-package and the various avenues of growth in these sectors.
• Agencies that offer opportunities to work in these sectors for those who are new and wish to get a feel for the industry.
The event concluded with attendees leaving the session feeling equipped and empowered with the wealth of knowledge required to take that step towards a career transition or the leap towards a career progression. Indeed, the session served as a stimulant for our attendees equipping them to manoeuvre their career path with confidence.
The Open Forum for Indian Origin Professionals extends its gratitude to the Auckland Indian Association for hosting the event and providing refreshments. The organisers look forward to many such future engagements to support the community with career excellence through equipping and empowering them with the knowledge and network needed for the purpose.
