A new study by Auckland University cancer epidemiologist Professor Mark Elwood has found that New Zealanders have a lower cancer survival rate than Australians. This is due to a slower diagnosis rate in New Zealand. There are several reasons for this slower rate, including underfunding, staff shortages, and a lack of access to medications. Early diagnosis is important for better cancer outcomes.
