Kingsley Coman scored the match-winner on the hour mark. The Bavarians started with Manuel Neuer in goal and Joshua Kimmich, Jérôme Boateng, David Alaba and Alphonso Davies in a back four. Thiago and Leon Goretzka anchored a midfield featuring Serge Gnabry, Thomas Müller and Coman, with Robert Lewandowski up front. Boateng was forced off the field with injury midway through the first half, Niklas Süle taking over. Philippe Coutinho and Ivan Perišić came on for Gnabry and Coman with 20 minutes to go, Corentin Tolisso replacing Thiago in the closing stages.
