New Zealand Food Safety deputy director-general Vincent Arbuckle said eating the products could make people sick, and should not be eaten.
āYou can return them to PakānSave Rangiora for a refund. If thatās not possible, throw them out.ā

The products affected were sold at PakānSave Rangiora, located on 2 Southbrook Rd.
So far, Arbuckle said New Zealand Food Safety had not received any notifications of associated illness, however undercooked chicken could contain campylobacter bacteria.
āSymptoms of campylobacteriosis include diarrhoea, fever, headache, muscle aches, abdominal pain and vomiting. Symptoms appear within 2 to 5 days but sometimes can take up to 10 days.ā
People who have consumed either product and are concerned about their health should contact a health professional, or Healthline on 0800 611 116.
Arbuckle said New Zealand Food Safety would work with PakānSave Rangiora to understand how the contamination occurred and prevent its recurrence.
