When I wrote my previous article discussing the potential of a catastrophe in the event of a conflict between two nuclear-armed neighbouring nations, it may have seemed overly alarming to some readers. Unfortunately, recent conflict between two countries have brought those concerns dangerously close to reality. A near-catastrophic incident appears to have been the key factor in halting India’s aggressive campaign against its adversary of 78 years, Pakistan. For the first time since the 1971 war, India launched a full-scale offensive within Pakistani territory, targeting and destroying multiple terrorist hideouts and camps deep inside the country, reportedly eliminating over 150 notorious militants.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had issued a stern warning to Pakistan and conveyed to the world that India would retaliate hard and will teach a lesson to Pakistan, the epicentre of the terrorism in the world. In very strong words PM Modi clearly alerted the enemy that the perpetrators of terror killings of 26 innocent Hindu tourists in Pahalgam will be punished with a severity far beyond of anyone’s imaginations. Narendra Modi kept his words he had promised to people of India, and in only 4 days of very coordinated and high precision operation, Indian armed forces destroyed several Pakistani defence establishments including the site of Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal storage at Kirana hills near Sargodha air base. The news of nuclear leak and spread of radiation in the areas surrounding Kirana hills and then Pak army forcing people in the nearby villages to evacuate the area only adds to the suspicion of a nuclear leakage. The Indian armed force’s technological superiority over its arch-rival demolished the former’s defence capabilities in just 3 days attack. India’s offensive also exposed the Chinese and American defence capabilities and the trustworthiness of their defence arsenals before the world. Traditionally, for past many decades, Pakistan is majorly dependent for its arms, ammunition and technical expertise of these two world powers.
Following the tragic and brutal killing of 26 innocent tourists in Pahalgam, there was widespread outrage across the country. Many demanded swift justice and a strong response against those responsible, not just the perpetrators, but also those who aid and shelter such violent extremists. Modi government chose a measured approach, carefully coordinating among all branches of defence forces before granting them the authority to respond appropriately. India’s External Affairs Minister clearly communicated to his Pakistani counterpart that any action taken by India would be focused solely on terrorist camps and hideouts, with no intent to target civilians or military personnel, urging Pakistan not to interfere if they wished to avoid further escalation. However, despite this effort to contain the situation, Pakistan responded with aggression, launching attacks on Indian cities and border areas, tragically resulting in more civilian casualties. This provocation left India with no choice but to respond decisively. The Indian armed forces launched a powerful and well-coordinated retaliation, delivering significant blows to Pakistan’s military infrastructure. The speed and precision of the Indian response drew global attention, with many around the world acknowledging the effectiveness and discipline demonstrated by India’s defence forces. Narendra Modi now appears to be unstoppable, and he wants to finish this menace of  terrorism once for all and hence he’s now launched an all-out attack on Pakistan by exposing it diplomatically as well. Narendra Modi is sending teams of all party leaders to different countries to explain India’s stand on the current India-Pakistan conflict and about the Operation Sindoor.

The recent conflict between two neighbouring countries and India’s measured yet strong response has reinforced India’s image as both a powerful and responsible nation. The global community is now looking to India with hope, recognizing its strength and capability in traditional warfare scenarios. Unlike some global powers that unnecessarily assert dominance over smaller neighbours, India has always shown restraint. However, there has been a clear shift from past policies, where earlier governments avoided direct responses to provocation. Today, under leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is more assertive and ready to stand its ground when challenged. This confident and decisive stance is resonating with the people of India, who are increasingly supportive of this “New India” under Narendra Modi. -Yugal Parashar
