Community Gears Up for Telangana Formation Day Celebrations in Auckland

The New Zealand Telangana Central Association (NZTCA) warmly invites everyone to join in the spirit of celebration at the Telangana Formation Day Celebrations & Telangana Awards Function, happening on Monday, 2 June 2025, at Mt Eden War Memorial Hall in Auckland. The festivities kick off at 5:00 PM.

This annual event, cherished by the local Indian community, marks the birth of Telangana as India’s 29th state—a milestone officially realized on 2 June 2014 after decades of advocacy and cultural perseverance. Since the state’s formation was announced in 2013, NZTCA has proudly celebrated this day in Aotearoa, bringing people together to honour heritage, unity, and progress.

This year’s event promises a colourful evening filled with traditional Telangana music, dance performances, and a heartfelt awards ceremony. The Telangana Awards will spotlight the outstanding contributions of individuals from both the Telangana and wider Indian communities in areas such as business, leadership, sports, and community service.

Distinguished guests including representatives from the Indian Consulate in Auckland, Members of Parliament, and leaders from Indian associations across New Zealand have been invited to attend, adding to the sense of occasion and cultural pride.

In true Telangana hospitality, the celebrations will conclude with a complimentary traditional dinner, offering guests a taste of the region’s rich culinary heritage.

The NZTCA team welcomes all to this free, family-friendly event. Whether you’re from Telangana, India, or simply someone who loves vibrant culture and community connection, this evening promises to be full of joy, reflection, and unity.
