The Hindu Foundation NZ Inc. (HFNZ) successfully conducted its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 6 April 2025, at Ormiston Primary School, Ormiston, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. This well-attended event brought together members, community leaders, and distinguished guests, serving as a significant platform for reflection on the past year’s accomplishments and outlining the way forward. The AGM concluded with the election of a new Executive Committee, marking the beginning of a new chapter in HFNZ’s journey of cultural advocacy and community empowerment.
The meeting commenced with a cordial welcome from Mr. Jot Bisht, Joint Secretary, who opened the session by greeting all attendees and expressing appreciation for the presence of several respected guests. Among the honoured attendees were Dr. Madan Mohan Sethi, Consulate General of India to Auckland, and Mrs. Sethi, who graced the occasion as Chief Guests. Their presence, along with esteemed community figures Mr. Vinod Kumar and Mr. Srikant Bhavi, underscored the event’s importance within the broader community.
The outgoing President delivered a reflective and motivating address, highlighting the foundational values, vision, and mission of HFNZ. Emphasis was placed on the organization’s dedication to strengthening cultural identity and unity among New Zealand’s Hindu communities. The address served as a reaffirmation of HFNZ’s commitment to nurturing social cohesion and fostering pride in shared heritage.
Following this, Mr. Jot Bisht, on behalf of Secretary Mr. Girish Sajwan, presented a detailed report reviewing HFNZ’s activities over the 2024–2025 period. This presentation showcased a variety of impactful programs, cultural events, and community initiatives that were successfully implemented throughout the year. These activities reflected HFNZ’s consistent engagement and active presence in the community.
Treasurer Mr. Sanjay Pandey presented the financial report for 2024, providing an overview of the organization’s financial health and transparent accounting practices. The AGM was chaired by Mr. Anurag Rasela, who not only facilitated the proceedings but also outlined key proposals and plans for the upcoming year, offering a clear roadmap for 2025.
A major highlight of the event was the election of a new Executive Committee, comprising individuals with a shared passion for community service and cultural preservation. The newly elected members are:
