The Telugu Badminton Club of Canterbury (TBCC) had organised the George Miller Memorial Summer Badminton League in January. The league was played on four Wednesdays evenings, and was named after George Miller to honour the contribution he made in developing badminton in the Canterbury region.

The players were divided into four groups of eight players each. Each group came up with four doubles teams with high-skilled players making Level 1, and the low-skilled as Level 4. Every week, each group have to mix the players from other levels, and then play again with the other groups. At the end, the group with most number of wins was declared winner.

The players of winning group were : Arjuna (Captain), Sundeep, Nishantha, Prasad, Aman, Rajesh, Sandesh and Ashok.

One player from each level who has shown all round skills across the league was selected based on their win-loss ratio, skill, passion, team player role, willingness to share their game knowledge. They were also honoured with medals.

Level 1 – Ben Jose– Gold medal

Level 2 – Monty – Gold medal

Level 3 – Sai Babu – Silver medal

Level 4 – Thimith – Silver medal

Hitesh Sharma, Director, Revel Events, and the main organiser of upcoming Christchurch Holi, was the Chief Guest. The organisers of the league thanked all the players for their enthusiasm and active participation. TBCC is making plans to organise similar leagues in the future on a regular basis.
