Disha NZ Charitable Trust recently organised a delightful visit to the Auckland Zoo on Wednesday, 29 April, bringing together around 60 seniors for a day filled with joy, connection, and exploration.

The outing provided a refreshing break from routine, giving participants the opportunity to enjoy nature, fresh air, and the fascinating world of wildlife. From leisurely walks through the zoo to moments of curiosity and wonder while observing different animals, the day was filled with smiles, laughter, and shared experiences.

For many seniors, the visit was particularly special. One participant shared, “Thank you, Disha—this was my first visit to Auckland Zoo. A wonderful arrangement!” Another attendee reflected on the experience, saying, “Those who missed it truly missed something special.” Such heartfelt feedback highlights the meaningful impact of these community outings.

The atmosphere throughout the day was warm and vibrant, reflecting the strong sense of connection and belonging that Disha continues to nurture. Seniors enjoyed exploring exhibits together, taking photos, and engaging in lively conversations, creating lasting memories.

These outings play an important role in supporting the mental, emotional, and social wellbeing of older adults. They encourage seniors to stay active, reduce isolation, and build friendships in a relaxed and enjoyable environment.
Disha NZ extends its sincere thanks to Age Concern Auckland for their support and for connecting the group with this wonderful opportunity. Their continued collaboration helps create enriching experiences that make a real difference in the lives of seniors.

The visit was a beautiful reminder that joy, curiosity, and a sense of adventure can be experienced at any age.
