The New Zealand Telangana Central Association (NZTCA) hosted a vibrant and memorable Telangana Formation Day & Awards Function on 2 June at Mt Eden War Memorial Hall, at Auckland, marking 11 years of Telangana’s statehood. The event drew nearly 700 attendees and was a celebration of cultural pride, unity, and community achievements.
The evening was rich with cultural performances, soul-stirring tributes to Telangana martyrs, and recognition of community excellence through the Telangana Awards 2025.
Special guests from Telangana, including Shri Singireddy Niranjan Reddy (Former Minister) and Shri Deshapati Srinivas (MLC, poet, and cultural figure), delivered moving speeches honouring the sacrifices that led to the formation of the state and acknowledged the valuable role of the diaspora in preserving Telangana’s heritage abroad.
Local dignitaries such as Hon. Priyanca Radhakrishnan MP, Michael Wood (Former Minister), and Helen White MP praised the unity and cultural vibrancy of the Indian community in Aotearoa. Dr. Madan Mohan Sethi, Consul General of India in Auckland, also graced the occasion and encouraged deeper community collaboration.
Kalyan Rao Kasuganti, Founder of NZTCA, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all attendees and extended special thanks to General Secretary Ram Mohan Danthala for his tireless coordination and leadership. The event was smoothly emceed by Rani Nalam and Kiran Pokala, who kept the programme lively and engaging.
A key highlight was the Telangana Awards segment, which honoured individuals for excellence in business, healthcare, sports, and community service. Guests were also treated to traditional Telangana cuisine, which added a rich and flavourful touch to the celebrations.
