A devastating shooting incident rocked Toronto’s Lawrence Heights neighbourhood on Tuesday night, leaving one man dead and five others injured. The violence unfolded shortly after 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of Flemington and Zachary Roads, in the vicinity of Ranee Avenue and Allen Road.
Emergency services responded swiftly to multiple reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, police and paramedics discovered six individuals with gunshot wounds. Tragically, one man was pronounced dead at the scene. The remaining five victims were transported to hospital for treatment. The severity of their injuries has not yet been disclosed.
In response to the incident, Toronto Police have set up a command post near the crime scene to coordinate their ongoing investigation. As of now, no suspects have been identified or arrested. Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow expressed her dismay over the violence, calling the incident “disturbing.” She confirmed that her office is in contact with Toronto Police and praised emergency personnel for their quick action. “I want to thank the first responders—Toronto police, fire, and paramedic services—for your work on a very busy and challenging scene,” she said in a statement.
The Toronto Police Service also announced that Duty Senior Officer B. Sarvanandan will provide a media update at 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday to share further details.
