Disha NZ Charitable Trust is a warm and welcoming space dedicated to enriching the lives of seniors, especially those from ethnic communities. We are passionate about promoting holistic well-being—mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual—through a variety of inclusive and culturally responsive programs. At the heart of our mission is the desire to combat isolation, enhance health, and create a vibrant sense of belonging.

Our regular activities include gentle exercises, mindfulness sessions, and wellness support that help improve physical mobility and mental clarity. These offerings not only support the health of our members but also foster meaningful connections among participants. We also serve as advocates, helping seniors navigate social and health services so they receive the support they deserve.
Community and spirituality are central to our work. We regularly host gatherings that promote cultural heritage and spiritual connection. Recently, we organized a memorable spiritual outing to Aalayam Thiru Subramaniyar Temple in Māngere. During this visit, Mr. Iliango Krishnamoorthy and fellow priests led a special pooja and explained the significance of the temple’s deities. Seniors were deeply moved by the serene atmosphere and the sacred rituals. The experience concluded with a delicious prasadam meal of dosa, leaving everyone uplifted and joyful.

We also cherish the power of intergenerational engagement. Occasionally, we host activities that bring younger and older generations together, encouraging understanding and building lasting relationships across age groups.

We extend heartfelt thanks to the Albert Eden Local Board for their generous grant, which enables us to continue these valuable services for our seniors.

If you’re looking for a supportive and inclusive community, we welcome you to join Disha NZ Charitable Trust. Reach us at info@dishanz.org or follow us on Facebook @dishanzorg to stay connected. -TIN Bureau
