We are so lucky to live in New Zealand, a beautiful country with huge potential. But this National Government is taking us backwards – thousands of people don’t have a home, healthcare can be hard to access, and thousands more people are out of work.

Our schools and hospitals are run down and in desperate need of investment. Our homes are unaffordable. Everyday costs like power and groceries are too high. It’s clear Christopher Luxon does not have a plan – buzz words and corporate waffle will not lift incomes, fix our health system, or build more homes.

Labour has a plan. Good jobs that pay a decent wage, health care you can rely on, and a warm home you can afford and make your own with a great school down the road.

In short: jobs, health, and homes.
We will pay doctors, nurses, teachers, police, and other workers more, because doing so is an investment in our collective future. We will invest in science and support our innovators and entrepreneurs. We will change the incentives that make investing in residential property more profitable than investing in Kiwi businesses.

Labour will get New Zealand building again. We want everyone to have a warm, dry, and affordable place to call home, and we will work with local councils and communities to plan for the long-term. This means opportunities for first home buyers, and stability for those who rent so people can put down roots and be part of their local community.

Labour will also build a quality public healthcare system where everyone has access to the care they need, when they need it. We’ll continue our work to end the postcode lottery so quality of care doesn’t depend on where you live, and we will make it easier for people to see a doctor.
We will lead a government of action. Labour introduced KiwiSaver, the SuperFund, KiwiBank – the list goes on. Those changes over decades since have helped us grow and prosper as a nation.
We have been listening, and we understand what Kiwis are after: a job so they can support their family, a home to grow up in, and a health system that is there to care for them or their whānau when they need it.
This is the future that is within reach under Labour.
