The Bhartiya Samaj Senior Citizens meeting on February 22, 2025, was a memorable event filled with joy and appreciation. Dr. Madan Mohan Sethi, the Consul General of India in Auckland, and his wife, Ms. Swagatika Bhuyan, were warmly welcomed by the seniors, receiving a standing ovation and prolonged applause, which made the occasion truly special.

The event began with prayers, followed by birthday celebrations for senior members and a refreshing exercise session. The main highlight was the formal reception and honouring of Dr. Sethi and Ms. Bhuyan with a traditional shawl. In his speech, the Consul General reassured the seniors of his continued support and shared the exciting news about the Consulate’s new office in Auckland, making it more accessible to the Indian community.

Among the distinguished guests were NZ Police Ethnic Responsiveness Manager, Jessica Phuang, and Bhartiya Samaj Patron, Dr. Bruce Hucker, who addressed the gathering. They praised the organization’s inclusive services and its ongoing efforts to support and empower seniors. The event continued with lively performances, with professional singers and seniors delighting the audience with their melodious voices and joyful dances. To the audience’s delight, Ms. Swagatika Bhuyan also joined in, singing beautifully and adding to the event’s charm. The gathering concluded with a delicious lunch, leaving everyone with cherished memories of the day.
