Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders criticized the ruling DMK-led Tamil Nadu government following a brutal attack on a doctor in a Chennai hospital on Wednesday, calling the government “irresponsible” and claiming that public safety is at risk.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!BJP National Spokesperson CR Kesavan told ANI, “The gruesome attack on a doctor in broad daylight shows that it is not a security lapse; it is a security collapse…It is a government hospital, and the government is responsible for this.”
Kesavan also criticized the state health minister’s reaction, calling it highly irresponsible. He noted that the minister initially stated that the attacker was from North India, only to later retract the claim.
“The Health Minister’s reaction was very irresponsible… Without ascertaining the facts, he blurted out that the attackers were from North India and then later he retracted saying that the attackers are from the same state,” he said.
“What is the necessity to bring a north-south divide in this issue?… The DMK and its ministers should learn to be more responsible,” he added.
BJP leader Tamilisai Soundararajan also condemned the attack on the doctor as she told ANI, “First of all, I pray for his speedy recovery because a doctor serving the patient should not have been assaulted. It is very unfortunate. He was stabbed, I feel sorry for that and it’s very unfortunate.”
Soundararajan further criticized the Tamil Nadu government, saying that law and order in the state is deteriorating.
“I condemn the Tamil Nadu government because there’s no protection for anyone in Tamil Nadu. Incidents are happening even in the schools and on the roads. The law and order and the police forces are with the chief minister. But the chief minister did not come to the hospital, only the deputy chief minister came,” she added.
Dr Balaji, an oncologist, was reportedly stabbed seven times earlier today by Vigneswaran, identified as the “son of a cancer patient,” at Kalaignar Centenary Hospital. -ANI
