Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched a blistering attack on Congress in his poll rallies in Doda and Kurukshetra, saying it is “most dishonest and deceitful party” in the country while accusing it of “appeasement politics”, being “new form of Urban Naxals”, “anti-Dalit, anti-OBC and anti-tribal” and wanting “to end reservations”.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! In his rally at Kurukshetra in poll-bound Haryana, PM Modi referred to the incident in Karnataka where police briefly kept the Ganesha idol in the van meant for protestors during a protest.
“Appeasement is the biggest aim of the Congress. Today the condition is such that in Congress rule in Karnataka, Ganpatiji is being kept behind bars. The whole country is celebrating Ganeshotsav and Congress is putting hurdles,” he said.
According to media reports, during a protest in Bengaluru over Mandya incident, a police officer took Ganesha idol from a protestor and placed it in a van meant for protestors He then retrieved it moved it to a police jeep.
Attacking the Congress, PM Modi said its “royal family” wants to do away with the reservation for Dalits and other weaker sections.
“This (Gandhi) family has always insulted OBCs, Dalits and tribals. When Nehru ji was the Prime Minister, he opposed reservation. He wrote a letter to the CMs of the states, proof of which is available. Not only this, Nehru ji had also said that if people with reservations get jobs, the quality of government services will deteriorate. When Indira Gandhi came, she also put a stay on the OBC reservation… Rajiv Gandhi also opposed reservation. In an interview, he even called those who got reservation as ‘Buddhu’,” PM Modi alleged
“I want to tell them that Modi will not let you end the reservation,” he added.
He also alleged that Congress is “new form of urban Naxals” and does not feel ashamed to speak lies. “Congress speaks lie everyday,” he said.
PM Modi said “those who gave Congress a chance in their states are regretting it” and sought a third term for the BJP government in Haryana.
He referred to Congress governments in neighbouring Himachal Pradesh besides Karnataka and Telangana and alleged that people were suffering due to inflation, corruption and promises not being fulfilled.
He alleged that there is no other party in the country “more dishonest and deceitful than Congress”.
“Those who gave Congress a chance in their states are regretting it. Congress’ lies have not spared even Karnataka and Telangana. There is a lot of chaos in Karnataka. Inflation and corruption are at their peak there. Development work has come to a standstill. After the Congress government came to power, both investment and jobs have been reduced. Congress is showing how good states can be ruined,” he said.
“Himachal Pradesh is in your neighbourhood. Two years ago, the Congress government was formed there. But what is the situation there today? No citizen of Himachal is happy today. Congress fed lies to every section, none of the promises made were fulfilled. Today, government employees are forced to go on strike there for their salary. Even the Chief Minister and Ministers have to pretend to give up their salary. There, Congress had promised to give Rs 1500 to women and thousands of women are still waiting for this money. In Himachal, Congress has made electricity, water, petrol, diesel, milk, everything expensive…There is no other party in the country more dishonest and deceitful than Congress,” he added.
PM Modi also launched a veiled attack on Aam Aadmi Party. He referred to Congress over its demands concerning the minimum support price of crops and asked if it had implemented this in party-ruled states.
“There is a ‘Kattar Beimaan Party’, this party also has only one policy – to win elections and empty the treasury. You see the condition of Punjab, what they have done. The people of Haryana should not let such parties come near them… I want to challenge that if Congress has the courage, then why doesn’t it implement its farmer schemes in Karnataka and Telangana? Show it by doing it somewhere,” the Prime Minister said.
Meanwhile, in Doda, PM Modi attacked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and said those running “nafrat ki dukaan” (shops of hate) are hiding behind the boards of “mohabbat ki dukaan” (shops of love).
PM Modi attacked the Congress party, National Conference and People’s Democratic Party and said that if their poll promises get implemented, the erstwhile state will go back to the days when schools were put on fire and stone-pelting was a daily affair.
“Congress, PDP and NC want to restore Article 370. That would mean that the three families will once again snatch the reservation of the Pahadis. If their manifestos are implemented, the schools will once again be burnt, children will have stones in their hands, and there will be strikes. They talk about the Constitution. Ye nafrat ki dukaan pe mohabbat ki dukaan ka board laga kar ke ghumte hai,” he said.
He said that the upcoming Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir will be a fight between “three dynasties” and the youth of the union territory.
Referring to National Conference (NC) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as the three dynasties, he alleged that their corrupt practices “hollowed out” and “destroyed” Jammu and Kashmir.
“This year, the elections to Jammu Kashmir assembly are going to be held between three dynasties and the youth of Jammu and Kashmir,” PM Modi said in his first rally in the election bound erstwhile State.
“These three families are responsible for the dire state that J-K was in for decades. They indulged in corruption and made you struggle for your basic needs. These families laid the foundation for terrorism and extremism in the valley. They provided a safe haven for the propagation of terrorism for personal gains. On one side, there are these three dynasties and on the other, my sons and daughters of Jammu and Kashmir. These three dynasties are – the Congress, the National Conference and the PDP. What these three dynasties have together done with you all is nothing less than a sin. These three families prepared the necessary ground for separatism and terrorism here. Who benefitted from it? The enemies of the nation. They were harbouring terrorism so that their shops of millions continue to prosper. They are responsible for ruining Jammu and Kashmir for decades,” PM modi said.
“Make our candidates win with a huge mandate and ensure a brighter future for everyone in the valley. Any citizen of Jammu and Kashmir, regardless of his religion, region and cultural affiliation, is a priority for the BJP government. I guarantee to safeguard your rights. It’s only the BJP that can reinforce statehood to Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.
The elections in Jammu and Kashmir are scheduled for September 18, September 25, and October 1, with counting set for October 8.
Haryana will go to the polls on October 5 and votes will be counted on October 8.-ANI
