It was established in 2023 with mission to work towards the wellbeing of the South Asian community, with special emphasis on women and elderly people’s empowerment. Our vision is to envisage a vibrant and inclusive society where every one of us can thrive and contribute positively. The trust provides culturally appropriate social support and advocacy services for the wellbeing and good quality of life of our clients who as migrants face many obstacles when settling in New Zealand. Our values of respect, inclusiveness and integrity supports our objectives to help and support vulnerable and marginalised people.
The SEVA trust runs a day programe for seniors of South Asian origin every Wednesday in Papatoetoe, South Auckland. In the programme seniors are engaged various health and welfare activities for their benefit. We also provide advocacy services and any age-related support.
The trust is organising a Diwali celebration on 8th November 2023. As part of the celebration, a senior’s pageant is being organised which will give our seniors a chance to participate, feel included and empowered. It a free programme and open to all.
CEO of SEVA trust Mr. Kanwaljit Singh Bakshi, a former MP said “this is the first Pageant of its kind, and we have professionals from the fashion industry supporting our seniors participating in the pageant. The participants will be walking the ramp showcasing Indian attire from various states of India and will be judged not only for their attire, talent but also for the inner beauty “.
Trust Chairperson Mr. Ranjay Sikka says “we look forward to bringing more meaningful and helpful services / programmes in the future.
