In a very unprecedented and critical world scenario today, amidst a fierce war between Russia and Ukraine, India has a very crucial role to play at the world stage. All major countries of the world, including one of India’s main adversary China, are looking toward India to get its approval on the decisions like which direction the war should lead to. Ironically, India is not even a party in this war or has no direct or indirect involvement in this conflict. So how this situation got created then?

So how could India suddenly become so important for the world that every concerned country is today looking towards India’s guidance and intervention, to stop the war. This all did not happen overnight but it is the work of a meticulous, strategic, and very careful planning of 7-8 years of only one man, who spent his initial years after becoming the Prime Minister of India by going around the world and making friends across the globe. India’s diplomacy is at its best since its current foreign Minister S Jaishankar took charge in 2019. These two men, Indian Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister have brought the attention of the whole world now focused on India by their best show of diplomatic manoeuvres. Indian Prime Minister’s decision of fearlessly staying neutral and not taking sides of any warring nation has shown the grit of its leadership. Despite the repeated American intimidation to India for voting against Russia at UN, India has remained firm on its decision and remained neutral every time. America even went to the extent of sending its Indian origin deputy NSA to India to influence its decision, much to their dismay.

This confidence has been instilled in the Indian governance because of a very firm, honest and a staunch nationalistic leadership at the top. If the leadership at the top is honest then entire machinery has to follow the suit. Its laughable that USA is imposing sanctions on Russia and asking the world to ban all trades with Russia but the country itself has increased its import of crude oil and gas by 47% since the war began. America makes rules for the world but they themselves do not follow those rules. In the eight years rule of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has reached to the level of becoming a world power. This is a fact that every country of the world now understands and acknowledges, except India’s opposition parties. Indian opposition parties have gone so blind opposing Narendra Modi that they oppose him on everything he does. This mindless act of stupidity has made opposition parties behave like anti nationals since these parties do not support the government even on the matters of national importance. It is shameful that Indian opposition parties are only working toward weakening and undermining India’s position at world stage. If we look around at India’s neighbouring countries, in Sri Lanka and Pakistan, both countries are at verge of collapse. Both countries have become bankrupt and there is civil war like situation there. It is all because of a corrupt and weak leadership there. So, it’s very important for India to stay strong and united in these tough times only if India’s opposition could understand the gravity of the situation.

If India can stay neutral and keep away from any involvement in the war, it will help lead the world towards peace process and can continue its economic growth and development works at the same time. No war is good for any nation, one does not gain anything from a war but only loss and destruction. Look what have Ukraine or Russia have achieved in 50 days of war except death and destruction. It will take both countries backward, at least 50 years. The ultimate losers will be the innocent population and humanity. Hope the good sense prevails soon to the warring countries and to those who are busy adding fuel to the fire. World is already fighting with deadly pandemic for last two years so now all efforts need to made to give peace a chance. – Yugal Parashar
