We know it’s been a challenging few weeks for everyone here in Auckland but we’re starting to see that mahi pay off. I want to say thank you, again, to everyone who’s doing their bit to stop the spread of COVID-19. It’s a mammoth effort, and it’s not going unnoticed.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!A lot of people are already doing it tough here in Auckland, and the attack in New Lynn came at a time when we weren’t able to gather together to support each other, making this act even harder to process. We hope you’re feeling supported in your bubbles, and can reach out if you need some extra aroha.
Now, more than ever, it’s important to be kind. Even if we can’t meet up, we can remember to give our friends and whānau a call, or try to arrange a virtual coffee catch up, church meeting, or hui. If you are having a particularly hard time, or if you know someone who is, you can call or text 1737 at any time for free to speak with a trained counsellor. There are also plenty of resources online at covid19.govt.nz/health-and-wellbeing
Recent case numbers show we’re heading in the right direction, but we’re not quite out of the woods yet. There are things we can all do to make sure we keep our communities safe.
Extra testing centres sites have been stood up across Auckland, and it’s really important that if you have any cold- or flu-like symptoms, of if you’ve been identified as a contact, you get a test as soon as possible. If you’re an essential worker and you have any of these symptoms, you must not go to work.
Additional testing requirements are also being put in place for workers crossing the alert level boundary. Thanks to all the workers and businesses for taking this extra step to keep us all safe and helping to make sure we stamp out Delta.
Our vaccination programme is continuing safely at Alert Level 4 – and getting vaccinated is the best way you can protect your community and your loved ones. If you haven’t booked yet, we strongly encourage you to do so. You can reserve a spot by visiting bookmyvaccine.nz or by calling 0800 28 29 26.
We know many businesses are doing it tough, and the uncertainty can be challenging for owners and employees. Financial support is available – visit the Unite Against COVID-19 website for more details on this.
Everyone in Auckland has been asked to step up and do their bit to keep the whole country safe. It’s a big ask, and we thank all of you in Auckland for all of the ways you’re reducing the risk of spread and helping each other stay safe at Alert Level 4. It’s making a huge difference.
