Puketapapa Local Board Mount Roskill launched a new Business Association to create and promote strong economic outcomes to support local business on Sunday 4th July at Fickling Convention Centre.

A range of dignitaries including Auckland Mayor Phil Goff, Minister and Mount Roskill MP Michael Wood, Puketapapa board member Ella Kumar, former National Party MP Kanwaljit Singh Bakshi, Julie Fairey, Chairperson of Puketapapa Local Board, and entrepreneur Shivani Arora attended the event. Ella Kumar, later talking the media persons said that approximately 5000 small local businesses have come under the Puketapapa Business Association umbrella to thrive together since small businesses were the most effected during difficult times of Covid-19.

Board member Ella Kumar has been instrumental in taking the initiative to support the local small businesses of Mount Roskill area. Mayor Phil Goff was appreciative of local communities for being supportive in keeping the Covid-19 spread contained. Minister Michael Wood applauded the local businesses and communities for being resilient and being supportive to each other during tough 18 months’ time of Covid-19. Michael Wood hinted on some big changes that his government is focusing on including building 10,000 new house in next few years to ease the housing crisis. The Chairperson of Puketapapa Local Board Julie Fairley congratulated and thanked the newly created association for coming together to provide a unified voice for local businesses. -TIN Bureau
