New Zealand Nepal Society and Non-Residential Nepalese Organisation, celebrated Nepal Festival 2021 on Saturday 27th March at Aotea Square in Auckland CBD from 11 am to 7 pm. The occasion was a celebration of Nepalese Art, Food and Culture to mark the Nepalese New year 2078 BS. Event started with a cultural parade down the Queen street.
There was an array of dignitaries present at the programme with Ethnic Affairs Minister Ms Priyanca Radhakrishnan being the Chief Guest. The other dignitaries included Minister of Transport Michael Wood, Melissa Lee, MP and Peter Gibbs, Hon Consulate General Office.
There were several musical performances given by 3 local Nepalese bands and 2 Kiwi bands and a few dance performances by artists from Indian and Nepalese communities. There were several food stalls at the venue serving Indian and Nepalese delicacies while some stalls were selling Nepalese souvenir, cultural and traditional artifacts at the event. An estimated more than 5,000 people attended the daylong event.
