The opposition National Party has announced its 2020 Party List early this month, with sitting Kiwi-Indian MPs and aspiring Kiwi-Indian candidates finding the following placings:

Kanwaljit Singh Bakshi (List MP since 2008)

• New Zealand Parliament’s first Indian Sikh Member

• National’s spokesperson for ethnic communities and associate justice

Electorate: Panmure-Otahuhu, Auckland

List ranking: 24

• Past President of New Zealand Telugu Association

• Associated with the National Party since 2007

Electorate: Kelston, Auckland

List ranking: 52
