While the celebrations were low-key due to Alert Level 2, still almost 200 people attended the annual celebrations, in two batches of 100 each, organised by the Telangana Association of New Zealand (TANZ)

Narender Reddy, President of TANZ informed, “We divided the attendees in two batches, which attended the festivities from 5 to 6 pm, and then from 7 to 8pm, on June 6. While the highlight of the evening was the children performances on movie songs and Telangana local folk, as always we started the event by paying tributes to the memory of Telangana martyrs.”

Next on TANZ’s agenda is the celebration of Bonalu [in June/July], which is a Telangana festival where Goddess Mahakali is worshipped. It is an annual festival celebrated in the twin Cities Hyderabad and Secunderabad and other parts of Telangana state.
