Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) spokesperson said online that 14 crews, including support crews, were currently responding to the fire in Glendene which broke out around 10am.
Initially, three crews and a helicopter responded to multiple calls, finding a single storey commercial building ablaze.
The fire was then raised to third alarm level, with crews from Glen Eden, Henderson, Te Atatu, Titirangi, Auckland City, Avondale, West Harbour, Mount Roskill and Grey Lynn responding to the scene.

“Crews are working to bring the fire under control,” FENZ said.
They said eight fire engines and six specialist appliances were in attendance, totalling about 40 firefighters.
People in the vicinity of the fire were advised to keep windows and doors closed if impacted by smoke.
“The public is also being asked to avoid the area,” the spokesperson added.
