New Zealand audiences are in for an unforgettable entertainment experience as one of India’s most celebrated comedy sensations, Sunil Grover, prepares to take the stage in Hamilton and Auckland this April. Known for his impeccable comic timing and widely loved characters, Grover’s visit marks a significant moment for Indian entertainment in New Zealand and promises to deliver laughter blended with a powerful cultural showcase.
The much-anticipated Hamilton show will be held on 11 April at Claudelands Arena, while the Auckland performance is scheduled at the New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC) – Te Paepae Theatre. Notably, this will be the first-ever Indian event to be hosted at the prestigious NZICC venue, underscoring the growing presence and recognition of Indian arts and culture in the country.
The upcoming shows were officially announced during a media briefing held at the Balmoral Community Centre on Friday, 23 January, where event organisers and promoters Kulture Kollective, led by Gaurav Gandhi and Vikram Muday, shared details of what they described as a truly one-of-a-kind production. Addressing media representatives and community leaders, the organisers highlighted that the event would go beyond comedy, offering a rich fusion of cultures that celebrates both New Zealand’s indigenous heritage and India’s ancient traditions.
The organisers are targeting a combined audience of over 5,000 people across both cities, reflecting the strong anticipation surrounding the event. Adding further depth to the program, the show has been divided into two distinct parts. The opening segment will feature a New Zealand Talent Hunt, aimed at discovering and celebrating local talent. Winners will be selected in both Auckland and Hamilton, with finalists showcasing excellence in their chosen fields. The winners will be honoured on stage by Sunil Grover himself and will receive a generous cash prize.
The Talent Hunt initiative is being organised in collaboration with DISHA NZ and SAKHI, two prominent Auckland-based community organisations dedicated to serving South Asian communities. Jyoti Parashar Chairperson of DISHA expressed enthusiasm about partnering on the initiative, noting that the Talent Hunt aims to create lasting memories for participants while providing a meaningful platform for emerging talent.
Behind the scenes, the event is backed by a strong leadership team with extensive experience in live entertainment. Vikram Muday brings more than two decades of expertise in conceptualising and delivering large-scale cultural festivals, celebrity-led shows, and international live events across India and global markets. His background spans creative development, artist management, sponsorships, production, and audience engagement.
Supporting this vision in New Zealand is Gaurav Gandhi, who has joined Kulture Kollective as a Technology and Event Operations Consultant. With a strong background in IT systems, technical planning, and live event execution, his role focuses on seamless technology integration, vendor coordination, and on-ground delivery.
Together, their combined strengths position Kulture Kollective to deliver a high-quality, culturally resonant event that not only entertains but also builds bridges between communities. With comedy, culture, and creativity coming together on one stage, Sunil Grover’s New Zealand tour is shaping up to be a landmark moment in the country’s multicultural entertainment landscape. -TIN Bureau
