Long-time Puketāpapa resident Bala Venu Beeram has announced his candidacy, bringing with him decades of professional expertise and a deep commitment to community service.
Bala and his wife have proudly raised their daughter in the area they’ve called home for many years. With a Master’s degree in Chemistry and over 28 years of professional experience—eight years in education and the last 20 years as a Scientist at Asure Quality in Lynfield—Bala offers a unique blend of scientific knowledge and real-world problem-solving experience.

But his contributions go far beyond his career. Bala has been an active and respected community figure, known for organising blood donation drives, tree planting initiatives, cultural celebrations, and sporting events. He has consistently worked to foster a sense of inclusion, unity, and local pride.
His leadership roles include serving as President of the New Zealand Telugu Association and his current

position on the Business Committee of the New Zealand Indian Central Association, where he advocates for greater community engagement and representation.

Now standing with the Communities and Residents (C&R) team, Bala’s campaign centres on building a strong, safe, and inclusive Puketāpapa where every resident’s voice matters.
“I believe in prudent spending, fair outcomes for ratepayers, and building vibrant, connected communities,” says Bala. “My focus is on collaborative leadership that brings people together to make meaningful, lasting improvements in our neighbourhood.”
