Over the years, the group has grown in strength and numbers, becoming a reliable source of empowerment for women. Supported by Bharatiya Mandir, the Sakhi group aims to provide a platform for women of all ages to connect, share their experiences, help each other in settling into their new surroundings, and provide support to those in need. The group organizes events and programs throughout the year to promote the well-being and development of ladies in the community.
The event began with a warm welcome, setting the tone for an afternoon of joy and camaraderie. Attendees came with radiant smiles and a spirit of excitement, ready to connect, share, and celebrate.
True to the spirit of community, everyone contributed to a potluck-style feast, bringing an array of delicious vegetarian dishes. The shared meal not only delighted taste buds but also highlighted the collective efforts of the group, symbolizing the unity that Sakhi represents.
The event was packed with engaging activities, including fun games that had everyone laughing and competing in good spirits. A highlight of the event was the Maori Waita and games organized by the founder ladies of the non-profit initiative, ‘Udaan – Let’s Shine Together,’ a group dedicated to empowering individuals by sharing knowledge and skills, fostering professional and personal development, and promoting a sense of community among immigrants. A highlight of the afternoon was the raffle draw, where lucky winners walked away with exciting prizes, adding an extra layer of thrill to the celebrations.
As the event unfolded, it also became a moment to reflect on the group’s achievements over the past year. From helping women navigate challenges to promoting businesses, celebrating cultural festivals, and providing a platform for support, the Sakhi group has made a profound impact on many lives.
The admin and registered social worker, Jyoti Parashar, said, “It’s been heartwarming to see Sakhi grow into a safe space where women can find support, build connections, and celebrate life together.” Another admin, Lavanya Komal, shared, “The dedication and energy of our members have been incredible. It’s this collective spirit that keeps Sakhi thriving.”
Sakhi admins, Jyoti and Lavanya, thanked all the volunteers, including Amita Bansal, Sunitha Itla, Neelu Ghai, Priya Ramrakhiani, and Nadya Poonawala, for their wholehearted support.

One attendee thanked the group, saying, “I was in depression after Covid and fearful of at

tending gatherings, but coming to this program, I felt welcome and valued.” Another Sakhi shared, “I didn’t realize how important it was for me to come out of my zone and meet people. Heartfelt thanks to Sakhi for creating this opportunity.”
The event concluded with a message of hope and encouragement for the coming year. The organizers emphasized the importance of continuing the Sakhi mission: fostering a community where women can uplift and empower one another. The energy in the room was palpable as everyone left with renewed enthusiasm for what lies ahead.
A huge thank you goes out to all who attended, contributed, and supported the event. The success of the Sakhi End-of-Year Event was a testament to the power of unity and the incredible women who make up this group. Together, we continue to create a space where women can thrive, celebrate, and inspire. Here’s to more milestones, connections, and celebrations in the year ahead!
