Gurugram (Haryana) [India], August 23 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former state minister Anil Vij said that the party will contest on its own in Haryana and expressed confidence in BJP securing a third consecutive term in government.
Speaking to ANI on the preparations, Anil Vij said that discussions and evaluations are ongoing to finalize candidate selections and strategize for the upcoming state assembly polls.
“We held a discussion for each seat and we are looking at the applications received. The meeting will continue tomorrow also and we will have discussions. We will make a panel and send it to the Central Election Committee. The BJP will contest on its own and form the government for the third time,” Vij said.
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini highlighted the positive response from voters following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent swearing-in for a third term.
“The discussions are underway. After PM Modi took the oath for the third time, the response of the people of Haryana was also similar. The BJP is going to form the government for the third time,” Saini remarked.
Earlier, Former Haryana Chief Minister and Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar asserted that the BJP will form the government for the third time in the state as the public has lost faith in Congress.
“I welcome the announcement and our workers were already preparing to contest the elections. And of course, just like the government has been formed at the Centre under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, in the same way, the BJP will form the government for the third time in Haryana. The public has lost faith in Congress and the people of Haryana will not trust them,” Khattar told reporters.
Haryana is scheduled to vote in a single phase on October 1 and the counting of votes will be held on October 4. The state is likely to see a four-way contest between the BJP, the Congress, the JJP, and the AAP. (ANI)
