Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi turned 75 on 17 September, and the scale of adulation and greetings he received on this milestone was truly unprecedented. From the leader of the world’s most powerful nation to the heads of the smallest countries, global leaders seemed almost in competition to extend their greetings. In India, there was a nationwide frenzy of admiration and celebration. From ordinary citizens to celebrities, political leaders, business tycoons, sportspersons, and even his political opponents, everyone rushed to convey their wishes to the most powerful and popular leader the country has ever seen. Never has the world witnessed such a widespread outpouring of birthday greetings from global leaders, heads of state, and some of the wealthiest and most influential people. The world has never witnessed top dignitaries, celebrities, leaders, sportspersons, and politicians alike creating video reels to extend compliments to any Prime Minister. True to his trademark humility, Narendra Modi graciously accepted every message and compliment on his special day.
As the nation roared with admiration and showered greetings on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday, a bitter and defeated cabal of politicians sulked in the shadows, demanding he step down. These are the same politicians who have failed time and again to defeat him in the people’s court, the ballot box. Now, stripped of credibility and support, they cling to the hollow fantasy that Modi will simply walk away from power. Their desperation reeks of cowardice. Cornered by Modi’s unshakable popularity, they are weaving poisonous lies under the banner of “vote chori” (vote theft). They know these claims are shameless fabrications but lies are their only weapon. Hungry for power at any cost, they are stooping to incite vulnerable youth and even illegal migrants to rise against a democratically elected government — an act nothing short of treachery. Even worse, a corrupt section of India’s judiciary is also suspected of lending a hand in this conspiracy, its strings allegedly pulled by global deep-state operators and the dark influence of George Soros. Rahul Gandhi’s frequent secret foreign junkets are no longer secret; they are now fuelling sinister designs to destabilise the nation. But unlike weaker states in India’s neighbourhood, Bharat is not so easily broken. The central government is alert, vigilant, and battle-ready. Those conspiring to topple Modi will find themselves crushed under the weight of the people’s will. India has seen their dirty tricks before and this time, the nation will not forgive or forget.
The recent university student union election results across India, have landed like a stinging slap on the faces of those who were desperately trying to turn India’s youth and Gen Z against the Modi government. For the Prime Minister’s detractors, this defeat has only rubbed salt into their wounds, shattering their hopes of mobilizing students to engineer chaos and anarchy, much like what is witnessed in India’s troubled neighbourhood. What these forces fail to grasp is that this is New India, an India that knows exactly what is right for the nation and what is not. Indians today listen to every voice but act only in the interest of the country.
If India can take on Donald Trump without hesitation and bring the so-called superpower to its knees, then anti-India elements should take the cue: the era of lies, deceit, and fake narratives is over. Meanwhile, opposition parties have stooped to the lowest depths, resorting to hurling abuses and vile language at the Prime Minister. What they don’t realize is that such gutter-level politics doesn’t hurt Modi—it hurts the sentiments of ordinary Indians. And when the ballots are counted, the people deliver their verdict with precision. Time and again, these same parties cry foul after being trounced in elections, blaming everything under the sun except their own dirty tricks. But the truth is simple: when politics is reduced to abuse and slander, the people reject it, and the results speak louder than any excuse.
Judging by the behaviour of the opposition and Modi’s detractors, it’s clear they won’t change unless Indians teach them a lesson at the ballot box, only repeated electoral defeats by the people of India will halt their nefarious schemes. -Yugal Parashar
