The Hindu Women Forum (HWF), a division of the Hindu Council of New Zealand, is excited to announce the Tongariro Alpine Crossing event, designed to empower women through physical challenge and spiritual connection. The Tongariro Alpine Crossing, located in Tongariro National Park, is one of New Zealand’s most renowned and picturesque hikes, celebrated for its breathtaking landscapes and cultural significance. This challenging 19.4-kilometer trek will bring together women from diverse backgrounds, offering an opportunity to experience the beauty of New Zealand’s wilderness while fostering a sense of community and personal growth. The event is set to take place in November 2024 and February 2025.

While the event focuses on women, families are welcome to join for moral and physical support, making it a wonderful family outing.
The best time to visit the Tongariro Alpine Crossing is during the warmer months, from late October to late April, when the weather is generally more stable, the temperatures milder, and the trail free of snow, making it safer and more enjoyable for hikers.
HWF is planning two trips, one in November and another in February, based on community interest. November offers fewer crowds and beautiful spring blooms, while February, being the most popular time, is busier with more hikers expected on the trail.
