The New Zealand Telangana Central Association successfully hosted the vibrant Bonalu Festival on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at 4 Dent Place, Papakura 2110. This event, celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm, honours Goddess Mahakali and is deeply rooted in Telangana culture.
The festival witnessed a turnaround of approx. 500 guests in attendance, including numerous devotees, community members, and political leaders. Women of all ages participated in a traditional parikrama, carrying Bonalu offerings to seek the blessings of the Goddess Mahakali, showcasing the cultural richness and spiritual essence of the festival.
Priest, Chandru, along with his dedicated team of Ganesh Temple, ensured that festival was conducted with all the traditional rituals, chanting sacred mantras throughout the event. Ram Mohan Danthala of the temple committee supervised the entire event, ensuring that everything ran smoothly and efficiently. Kalyan Rao Kasuganti warmly welcomed all the guests, adding to the festive spirit and making everyone feel at home.
The festival was generously sponsored by Venugopal Chawdrapu and Prasanna Gumudavelli, whose support was instrumental in making the event a grand success. Their contributions helped in organizing a festival that was both grand and deeply spiritual. Following the traditional festivities, guests were treated to a delicious Maha Prasad, fostering a sense of community and togetherness.
