SIP Abacus New Zealand hosted the National Finals of the National Level Mental Math Prodigy Competition on 28th June (Matariki Day) at Ormiston Primary School in Flat Bush. The event featured over 150 children from across New Zealand, including participants from the South Island, showcasing their exceptional math skills. These children were between the age of 6-14 years of age.
The competition showcased the remarkable talent of these young participants, who performed complex mathematical calculations like 342+434+834-692+986 or 7833×7 in less than 2 seconds mentally, without the use of paper or a calculator. Attendees witnessed these impressive skill demonstrations firsthand, as participants competed in a variety of math challenges.
There was also a cultural performance where children showcased their talent like singing, dancing, playing the flute etc. Radha Solanki, the mother of Myra Solanki said “SIP Abacus has really boosted the confidence of my daughter. She received a lovely trophy for her performance during the event and she is absolutely thrilled and overwhelmed by the occasion. We would like to thank SIP Abacus for arranging such a wonderful event.”

Between 450-500 people, including supporters and spectators witnessed the National Finals which was a thrilling and engaging day for all involved. This was a lovely occasion where we witnessed the mathematical prowess of New Zealand’s young math prodigies.
