The vibrant colours of Holi filled the air as the Uttarakhand Association of New Zealand hosted a joyous celebration for the community on March 23rd, 2024, at the Balmoral Community Centre at Sandringham in Auckland. Despite challenging weather conditions, the event witnessed an impressive turnout, drawing individuals of all ages to partake in the festivities.
From children to seniors, attendees revelled in the spirit of Uttarakhandi Holi, immersing themselves in the traditional festivities with fervour and enthusiasm. President Chetan Joshi, JP, expressed his delight at the overwhelming participation, remarking on the joyous atmosphere that enveloped the gathering.
“The success of today’s celebration truly exemplifies the spirit of unity and cultural pride within our community,” said President Chetan Joshi. “It was heartening to see individuals from diverse backgrounds come together to embrace the rich heritage of Uttarakhandi Holi.”
The event featured an array of traditional rituals, music, dance, and, of course, the iconic splashing of colours, creating unforgettable memories for all in attendance. As families and friends joined in the revelry, the bonds of camaraderie were strengthened, fostering a sense of belonging and harmony within the community. Young and old everyone danced to be beats of Uttarakhandi music and applied colours to each other.
