Police have taken a man into custody after a gun was reportedly heard being fired at a West Auckland address this morning.

Cordons were put in place on Simpson Rd while officers appealed for the man to leave the house, according to a police spokesperson.
“No one was injured and the man surrendered to police. Charges are being considered.
“Police would like to thank nearby residents impacted by this incident for their support as we worked to achieve a peaceful resolution.”
Several witnesses in the area reported hearing gunshots during the incident, with armed officers later attending to the scene, the New Zealand Herald reports.
“Simpson Road is open following the earlier traffic incident. Bus route 143 will return to its normal route. All bus stops are now open.”- Onenews
