The free, family-friendly event kicks off this weekend, showcasing the rich traditions and contemporary energy of 11 Pacific Island nations. From Aotearoa to Tonga, each village will offer a unique experience with cultural performances, delicious food stalls, and handcrafted treasures.

A Heartfelt Reggae Tribute

Reggae fans are in for a special treat as musician Che Fu and his father, Tigilau Ness, join forces for a tribute to the legendary Bob Marley. Ness, a Niuean-Kiwi musician and advocate, was present at Marley’s only New Zealand concert in 1979. This multi-generational performance promises a unique and heartfelt homage to the reggae icon.

Beyond the Stages

The festival extends beyond captivating performances. Explore over 100 local food stalls offering mouthwatering dishes like Samoan umu and Tongan otai. Find handcrafted treasures and traditional taonga among the independent craft stalls.

For a dose of history, head to the Museum of Transport and Technology (Motat) situated right next door. Motat is offering free admission during the festival along with themed events.

Getting There

The organizers encourage using public transport, e-scooters, ride-sharing services, cycling, or walking whenever possible.

Don’t Miss Out!

Pasifika Festival is a must-attend event for anyone wanting to immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of Pacific culture. Mark your calendars for Saturday, March 9 (9am-6pm) and Sunday, March 10 (10am-4pm) and head to Western Springs for a weekend filled with island vibes.
