In September 2023, Sakhi organised a Walkathon Challenge to promote fitness, teamwork, and perseverance. The End-of-Year event recognised the achievements of the winners, runners-up, and the top three steppers from all groups.
Neelu Shetty, a participant from the Winning team, expressed gratitude to Walkathon team and Sakhi leaders for the fitness journey. She shared, “I made new friends during this journey. In our group of five, we encouraged and motivated each other to accomplish our goals. My team supported me through personal challenges when I had lost my loved ones and felt like giving up, and my mum was my angel who inspired me to achieve this goal. This reward is a tribute to my parents”.
Another participant highlighted that joining Sakhi was the best decision, turning it into more than a group but a family. Yet another participant felt that winning a prize in the Walkathon was the cherry on top of a journey of resilience and support. The challenge was not just about steps but a celebration of unity, empowerment, and friendship, leaving everyone excited for the adventures in the coming year.
In addition to the participant experiences, one of the Sakhi admins, Jyoti Parashar, shared the group’s objective, emphasizing the mission to provide a space for women to connect, support one another, and celebrate life. Sakhi is more than just a group; it’s a community where every woman’s journey is valued and celebrated.” Another admin, Lavanya Komal, added, “Our aim is to foster an environment where women not only build friendships but also find inspiration and encouragement to achieve their personal goals.”
In the spirit of Sakhi, where every step is a celebration of unity and friendship, the event concluded on a high note. As everyone left, they were looking forward to the exciting times ahead in the coming year.
