The oldest Indian organisation in New Zealand working for South Asian seniors, Shanti Niwas Charitable Trust is celebrating the World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on 19th June at Athia Trust Community Hall in Onehunga, Auckland.

To commemorate the day, Shanti Niwas is celebrating “KHUSHI DAY” to raise awareness on the issue within the community, support and to empower seniors in situations of abuse and neglect.
Shanti Niwas Charitable Trust Inc. is a non-profit organisation which was established by an experienced social worker Mrs Indu Bajaj QSM, in the year 1994. Twenty-seven years after its humble beginning, Shanti Niwas has proud history and a legacy of working with socially isolated senior citizens of Indian and South Asian origin living in Auckland. Shanti Niwas General Manager Mrs Nilima Venkat informed The Indian News that they are very excited about this event and are preparing for it in big way.
