A new community service organisation, Migrant United Council Inc. was launched amidst a galaxy of community and political leaders and representatives from range of religious and business organisations on Saturday 3rd October at Women Care Trust Hall in Papatoetoe, Auckland. Honorary Consul of India Bhav Dhillon performed the curtain raiser in presence of many other dignitaries.
The team behind the programme adhered to the protocol of limiting the guest numbers to up to 100 as per level 2 restriction at the time of event. Mr Bhav Dhillon later announced the names of the office bearers of new organisation that included Jeet Sachdev as President, Uttam Chand Sharma as Secretary General and Aman Preet as Treasurer, who were earlier elected unanimously in a separate meeting. The team behind MUC Inc. explained the attendees about the purpose and objectives of starting the new organisation. it said, we all, as migrants do need help at some stage and MUC Inc. can provide you an opportunity get a timely guidance, advise and support from the experienced and professional mentors according to the need of the person. The four main different categories are the focused area of MUC Inc. where they aim to help the diverse migrant community are- Migrant workers, Business owners, Social groups, and Senior Citizens. Migrants United Council Inc. also wants to provide assistance to all types of Visa holders like Visitor visa, Study visa and different Permit holders. Secretary General of MUC Inc. later said that as a new organisation they are open to any constructive suggestions and positive new ideas. The prominent speakers and the attendees at the event included former minster Hon. Mathew Robson, MP Michael Wood, MP Kanwaljit Singh Bakshi, MP Paramjit Parmar, Dr Ashraf Chaudhary, Daljit Singh, Roshan Nauhria ,Narendra Bhana, Prithipal Basra, Harshad Patel, Harjit Golian, Dr Pramila Khar, Jyoti Parashar, Detective Constable Lavleen Kaur, Jyothi Mallikarjuna, Gurvinder Aulakh and Ilango Krishnamurthi. The programme ended with a sumptuous Indian cuisine dinner.
