Last week, the Telangana Association of New Zealand and Telangana Jagruthi New Zealand, in separate programmes marked and celebrated the start of year-long birth centenary celebrations of India’s ninth Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao, who led the country between 1991-96.

Back home in Telangana too, the current Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao launching the celebrations, acknowledged Rao’s contribution “in building the nation and erstwhile state of Andhra Pradesh in particular”.

PM Modi, in his monthly Mann Ki Baat radio show added, “His rise from a very simple background, emphasis on education, tendency to learn, and leadership ability – everything is memorable. He also raised his voice against injustice from an early age. I pay my tribute to him.”
