New Zealand will have its very own version of IPL – though at a very small scale – in December and January of this year.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!According to the organisers, the New Zealand Premier League (NPL), will be a T20 tournament based on the Indian Premier League (IPL) format, which will be conducted in association with the Kumeu Cricket Club, and is supported by Auckland Cricket.
Eight teams from different communities, each consisting of 16 players will participate in the NPL, which will have matches on December 8, 15, 21, 28, and 29. January 4, and 5, will be the reserve days. Coming weekend, on November 23, these teams will fight for players in an auction. Selected players will earn money from the auction, as well as based on performances. The winning team will get a prize money of $5,000, with the runners-up getting $1,500.
